Photo of the Day – Nevada Salt Flats

This is from a road trip we took in 2009, driving along through Northern Nevada. I think, mind you this is my best guess, I think this is close to the 80-95 junction north of Fallon. Somewhere around there. I know it has to be around Fallon because we were near enough to have a conversation about the TOPGUN school and how it was moved from NAS Miramar in San Diego to NAS Fallon here in the Nevada high desert. We were also buzzed by F-18’s. So, this was taken somewhere around there. I just can’t remember where.

The lighting was really beautiful in the late afternoon/ early evening, but it came out much darker than by the naked eye; I wanted to capture the colors and dramatic clouds and not the brightness. I have a second expose, taken just a minute or so apart from the other below. I can’t really decide which is my favorite, so I’ll leave it to you.
